EXFO Receives Protocol Technology Innovation Award From Frost & Sullivan

(TSX:EXF)(NASDAQ:EXFO) announced today that it has been named recipient of the 2008 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation award for two of its protocol solutions - namely, its handheld AXS-200/850 Gigabit Ethernet Test Set and its FTB8120/8130NGE Ethernet/Next-Generation SONET/SDH/OTN multiservice test modules that support all rates up to 10 Gbit/s.

According to Frost & Sullivan, a global growth consulting company, this technology innovation award "recognizes the ability of the company to successfully develop and introduce new, leading-edge technologies, formulate a well-designed product family and make significant product performance contributions to the industry."

Frost & Sullivan specifically highlighted the AXS-200/850 Ethernet Test Set and the FTB-8120/8130NGE Power Blazer test modules for their excellence in technology innovation. The AXS-200/850 Ethernet test module, housed inside the AXS-200 SharpTESTER platform, is a handheld test solution that features easy-to-use pass/fail displays and one-touch function buttons that help to address the real-life challenges of turning up or maintaining Ethernet and IP services in access networks. This unmatched degree of user-friendliness and ultra-portability allows field technicians, installers and contractors to quickly and efficiently execute a comprehensive Ethernet test suite (including bit-error-rate (BER), RFC 2544, IP connectivity/ping and quality of service (QoS) tests) to significantly accelerate network deployments and reduce the learning curve for novice and expert technicians.

The FTB-8120NGE and FTB-8130NGE Power Blazer Ethernet/Next-Generation SONET/SDH/OTN multiservice test modules are compatible with both the FTB-200 Compact Platform, aimed at super-technicians, and the advanced FTB-400 Universal Test System, aimed at power-users. They offer customers the highest level of integration on the market and the deepest feature set to meet the most demanding multiservice transport network testing needs at rates up to 2.5 Gbit/s and 10 Gbit/s, respectively. They are ideally suited for multiservice transport platform (MSTP) and reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) network deployments and maintenance activities, as well for the growing deployments of Ethernet-over-TDM and Ethernet-over-SONET/SDH services.

The IQS-8120NGE and IQS-8130NGE Power Blazer modules, developed using the same award-winning technology as the FTB8120/8130NGE modules, offer R&D, system verification and manufacturing teams similar performance and feature sets as the FTB modules, as well as unique automation test scripting capabilities for validation of metro and core network equipment. Compatible with the highly scalable IQS-500 and IQS-600 test platforms, the IQS-8120/8130NGE modules can be combined with a wide range of optical, transport and datacom test modules to accelerate testing, increase productivity and reduce costs.
