                                       Expansion in Ireland

National Milk Records Plc, the PLUS-quoted supplier of milk services, has entered into an
agreement with Progressive Genetics Co-operative Society Limited ('Progressive Genetics') to
provide disease testing services and interpretation to complement Progressive Genetics' existing
milk recording services in Ireland. The contract, which has been awarded to NMR's wholly owned
subsidiary National Milk Laboratories ('NML'), creates an additional market for the Company and a
platform from which to build its presence in the Irish milk recording industry. This new contract
is expected to cover the testing of an initial 30,000 cows by October 2009.

Under the terms of the agreement, NML will provide its services and technology to Irish farmers
through Progressive Genetics. This will enable the Company to expand its activities into the
Irish dairy market alongside recognised regional leaders in the marketplace. Progressive Genetics
initiated a pilot study testing 4,000 cows for Bovine Viral Diarrhoea ('BVD') and Johne's disease
in autumn 2008 to determine the level of NML's service and assess the prevalence of disease across
its farms. Tests confirmed that 78% of cows showed evidence of infection with BVD and 4% of
animals had evidence of exposure to Johne's disease although some herds had serious infection
rates. The pilot study illustrated farmer support for cost effective disease screening to
eliminate or control infectious diseases within their herd and resulted in the commercial tie-up
with NML.

NML provides a wide range of analysis, which helps provide aggregate data of value to vets,
research and educational organisations, feed producers and equipment manufacturers. The payment
testing, which is monopolised in England by the subsidiary, detects Johne's disease, IBR,
Leptospirosis and BVD, and addresses milk buyers increasing concerns about the quality of dairy
produce. National Milk Records Plc has existing long term contracts with Sainsbury Plc
('Sainsbury') and Tesco Plc ('Tesco').

NMR Managing Director Andy Warne said, "This agreement with Ireland's leading provider of dairy
and cattle services is in line with our growth strategy of expanding our reach within the British
Isles. We have a very dominant position in the UK, particularly in England and Wales, where
farmers recognise the overall cost efficiency and effectiveness of managing quality in an
increasingly competitive market, especially as many major retailers demand quality testing from
dairy farmers. This position has been recognised by our new partners and we look forward to
working together to improve disease testing in Ireland."

The directors of the Company accept responsibility for this announcement.
