Expeditors Receives GT Nexus Shipper Council Award for Superior Air Transport Performance

Air Carrier Recognized by Peer Community for Leadership in Customer Service and Data Quality

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - June 24, 2015) - The GT Nexus Shipper Council, a community group of supply chain executives representing multiple large global enterprises, has recognized Expeditors International, a leading global logistics provider, as winner of the 2015 Air Performance Award. The award was given at Bridges 2015, the leading cloud supply chain industry event, held June 8-11 in Hollywood, Florida.

Expeditors, based in Seattle, Washington, provides consolidation and forwarding for air and ocean freight, as well as services for customs brokerage, vendor consolidation, cargo insurance, time-definite transportation, order management, warehousing distribution and customized logistics solutions.

"The Shipper Council is all about the power of community, and harnessing that collective power to improve the performance of everyone in the community," said Mike Ellerby, International Transportation Systems Manager at Sears, and chairperson of the Shippers Council. "The Shipper Council uses benchmark data each year to recognize a partner demonstrating air transportation excellence to improve service levels to customers on the platform. Expeditors led the way during this past year through their commitment to customer service and data quality."

Benchmark data available through the GT Nexus platform provides detailed performance metrics around data quality, responsiveness, onboarding times and customer service.

"We are extremely honored to be named winner of the air transport award from the GT Nexus Shipper Council," said Jose Ubeda, Senior Vice President Air Cargo at Expeditors. "It is a testament to the hard work of our air product team and the support and leadership of our information systems team. We are committed to providing the best possible customer service and appreciate this commendation from the Shipper Council."

Shipper Council members all share GT Nexus as a common cloud technology platform to run their global supply chains, unlike traditional software company user groups. This allows the Shipper Council to measure and benchmark against the collective industry performance. Improvements by any single member benefit the entire community. The work of the group has moved the industry average data quality score to above 95% across the top 20 ocean carriers representing over 90% of global capacity.
