Experienced Educator Takes Helm of Early Learning Pioneer

Kai-lee Berke Brings Classroom Expertise to New Role as CEO of Teaching Strategies

BETHESDA, MD--(Marketwired - Oct 29, 2015) - Teaching Strategies, a leading developer of curriculum and assessment resources for early childhood educators, announced today the appointment of Kai-leé Berke as Chief Executive Officer. As a former classroom teacher and preschool administrator, Ms. Berke brings a deep understanding of the early childhood field to this new role.

"Kai-leé possesses a unique combination of early childhood knowledge, field experience, and leadership, but most importantly she understands the needs of educators and early learners as only a practitioner can," said Diane Trister Dodge, founder of Teaching Strategies. "From the beginning, Teaching Strategies has been committed to its original vision of enhancing the quality of early childhood programs, ultimately leading to positive outcomes for all of our youngest learners. I am confident that Kai-leé and the entire staff will continue to deliver on the company's mission."

For over 25 years, Teaching Strategies has supported the critical work of early childhood educators by developing the most effective resources. Today, their assessment and curriculum solutions reach over 2 million children across the U.S. As a lead author of many of Teaching Strategies' most impactful resources, Ms. Berke will ensure a continued strong focus on creating innovative tools that support great teaching and inspire creative, confident thinkers.

"Kai-leé will bring an intimate knowledge of the early childhood classroom experience to this new role," said Ron Davies, who preceded Ms. Berke as CEO of Teaching Strategies. "She is a true thought leader, she is of the field, and she has a proven track record of success." Davies, a longtime advocate for early childhood education, will continue to serve as a key advisor and member of the Teaching Strategies Board of Directors.

From public pre-K classrooms and private child care to child development programs serving military families, Ms. Berke has taught and cared for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarteners. She is the proud mother of a five-year-old daughter and a nine-year-old son and lives with her family in Bethesda, Md.

"For young children, so much of what they learn in their early years -- who they want to be, how to trust, how to be empathetic, how to enjoy a good book and find the fun in mathematics, how to be curious, confident, engaged learners -- can be dramatically influenced by their relationships with their teachers," said Ms. Berke. "That's the power of high-quality early childhood education and great teaching. I am honored to continue working on behalf of educators in centers and classrooms across the country, ensuring that every child has the chance to build a strong foundation for future success, in school and in life."
