Experts Group Specializing in Jerusalem to Visit Washington DC Mid-January

A team of senior staff members from the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies will meet with staff of US research institutes, senior academics, journalists and diplomats to present new insights regarding possible future arrangements in the Holy City

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL--(Marketwire - Nov. 23, 2010) - A group of senior staff members from the Jerusalem Institute for Israel Studies (JIIS) with special expertise in all issues relating to Jerusalem and the Arab-Israeli conflict will visit the United States mid-January 2011.

The team, which is comprised of highly qualified academics and practitioners, will meet with representatives of American think tanks, research institutes, senior academics, journalists and diplomats. The group will be led by JIIS director Meir Kraus, and internationally renowned researcher and JIIS head Prof. Yaacov Bar-Siman-Tov, a leading expert on issues relating to the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The team will provide extensive insight into the issues of borders, sovereignty and management, and will analyze the demographic and geographic division of Jerusalem in order to offer alternative options for conflict resolution or management.

The institute's unique contribution is that it focuses on practical possible solutions. The delegation to the US will address a broad spectrum of topics, including East Jerusalem, groundbreaking newly released research on the barriers to peace in the Middle East, and various other challenges the Israeli-Palestinian Peace process is facing today.

The JIIS conflict management and resolution team is constantly developing alternatives and solutions regarding the future of Jerusalem. The group recently conducted a special simulation game, with some 30 participants, mirrored the negotiations on Jerusalem. The event provided new insights regarding possible future arrangements in Jerusalem.
