Exploration Mining and Quebec's New Water Law

MOISIE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 13, 2011) - A group of citizen of the North Shore of Québec has made an official complaint to the Ministry of Environment of Quebec for the non-respect of the new water law No 27.

The government of Quebec and the exploration projects of the Company URACAN Inc. in Baie Johan-Beetz, Quebec are pointed out for the drilling of hundreds of holes within a few kilometers of the town's water supply.

The group insists on the lack of information on the underground water network and asks the government to stop uranium exploration inside watershed that supplies towns with Water.

The North Shore seems rich in uranium but more than 90 % of the Citizen population is against this industry. Also a dozen municipalities and Innu Nation voted resolution against uranium exploration on their land during the past year.
