Extensive Program Lined Up for Employers Attending PBMI 2014 Conference

PLANO, TX--(Marketwired - Dec 17, 2013) - It's all about the education at the Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute's (PBMI's) 2014 Annual Drug Benefit Conference. Conference attendees are in store for an extensive educational program of more than 30 presentations focused on evidence-based, practical solutions to some of the most common challenges facing prescription drug benefit sponsors today. The conference will be held at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel, February 3-5, 2014 and will feature a compelling keynote address by former Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Bob Stutman, considered one of the nation's foremost experts on what he describes as "America's worst drug epidemic."

"This year's conference comes at one of the most challenging times for health plan benefit sponsors in our nation's history," commented Brenda Motheral, Executive Director of PBMI. "In addition to health reform initiatives, plan sponsors must also address a growing tide of prescription drug abuse and navigate the opportunities afforded by a flood of pharmacotherapeutic advances in order to continue providing their members with high-quality medications at an affordable price. Our growing conference attendance is a mark of the value of the education we provide, which is especially important now."

Conference attendees will leave with an understanding of:

  • How federal and state requirements for Health Insurance Exchanges affect pharmacy benefits
  • Appropriate management strategies for psychotropic medications and controlled substances
  • Opportunities to effectively manage specialty drugs within both the pharmacy and medical benefits
  • Effective approaches to enhancing consumer engagement
  • Strategies for pricing, pharmacy network management and PBM contracting
  • Best practices for addressing contemporary challenges within the traditional pharmacy benefits

Select sessions offer free continuing pharmacy education credit, and attendees can earn up to six contact hours. Click here for the full conference program.
