Exterro Releases Survey Results: The Top 5 Most Controversial E-Discovery Issues

Preserving/Collecting New Data Types and Reducing E-Discovery Costs Take Top Two Positions

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - January 05, 2016) - Exterro® Inc., the preferred provider of software specifically designed for in-house legal and IT teams at Global 2000 organizations, today announced the results of a recent survey conducted during December 2015. The survey, completed by 400 individuals from law firms, corporations, consultancies, and e-discovery vendors, asked respondents to vote on the top 5 most controversial e-discovery issues facing organizations today.

The results are as follows:

Number 1 with 67% = Preserving/Collecting New Data Types (structured data, social media, mobile, etc.)

Number 2 with 66.75% = Reducing E-Discovery Costs without Sacrificing Defensibility

Number 3 with 55% = Managing Large Volumes of Corporate Data

Number 4 with 50.25% = Deciding How and When to Preserve Data

Number 5 with 49.5% = Working with IT/Legal Effectively

"It's been estimated that the volume of business data doubles worldwide every 1.2 years," said Bill Piwonka, chief marketing officer for Exterro. "This phenomenon is reflected in the survey results, as legal teams struggle to implement a consistent, scalable and defensible e-discovery process that can easily adapt in our changing times. The amount of data and the new sources of data will be a challenge in 2016 and beyond."

As a follow up to the survey, Exterro will be hosting a 5-part webcast series starting on January 21, 2016 at 10am PT. The webcast series will answer lingering questions on each topic by discussing, debating, and answering attendee questions around the top 5 e-discovery topics based on these survey results.
