Extreme Networks Innovative Four Pillar Data Center Strategy for Migrating From Physical to Virtual to Cloud Networks to Be Highlighted at Key Interop Education Panel

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - October 19, 2010) -  At this week's Interop New York Data Center conference and expo,  Extreme Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXTR) will be participating in a key data center education panel, "Designing the next generation Data Center LAN," where it will discuss in-depth its Four Pillar data center strategy for migrating organizations from a physical network, to a virtualized network and onto a cloud.

The panel, occurring Wednesday, Oct. 20th at Interop New York, discusses critical data center inflection points and a wide range of data center network design scenarios and recommendations, serving to compare differentiated vendor approaches to the virtualized data center while touching upon the emerging network technologies and standards.

Shehzad Merchant, senior director of strategy for Extreme Networks, will discuss how migrating to the next generation data center network can reduce complexity, eliminate unnecessary network tiers and how this can be achieved with leading 10GbE and 40GbE virtualized Ethernet solutions. As part of the discussion, network panel moderators Jim Metzler and Mike Fratto will question network vendors on a collection of the hottest data center topics, including the pros and cons of FCoE vs. iSCSI storage technology; the viability of separating the LAN switch's control and the data planes; and the pros and cons of virtual switching and multi-chassis LAGs.
