ExxonMobil, Its Employees and Retirees, Donate $11 Million to Tsunami Relief

IRVING, Texas--(CCNMatthews - May 12, 2005) -

Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) today announced that its employees, retirees, surviving spouses, dealers and distributors around the world combined their contributions with corporate donations to give a total of $11 million to tsunami relief and reconstruction in 2005.

ExxonMobil initially contributed $5 million in December and committed to a one-to-one match of employee donations, which totaled $3 million.

"The thoughts and prayers of everyone at ExxonMobil have been with the families and loved ones of those who died in this horrific event and with the survivors as they attempt to put their lives back in order. I am immensely proud of the generosity of my colleagues around the world and particularly of those who have been in a position to provide direct assistance and relief," said Lee Raymond, chairman, Exxon Mobil Corporation.

The ExxonMobil and affiliate contributions went to international aid agencies including UNICEF, Save the Children, United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), the American Red Cross and UpLift International. Contributions were also given to relief funds and organizations in Indonesia, Thailand, India and Malaysia.

ExxonMobil's notable business operations and community presence in Aceh strongly influenced the decision to earmark a significant portion of the company's donations to Indonesia in recognition of the tsunami's enormous impact on that community. Aceh was the closest landmass to the earthquake's epicenter and the first landfall for the devastating tsunami.

ExxonMobil affiliates employ approximately 5,000 people in India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, and have oil and gas production and petroleum and petrochemical refining and distribution businesses in those countries.
