EZ Lube Encourages Safe Driving Habits for Teens With "It's EZ to Be Safe" Campaign

SoCal Automotive Retailer Recognizes National Teen Driver Safety Week by Reaching Out to Local Teens Online

COSTA MESA, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 4, 2011) - EZ Lube, a wholly owned quick lube retailer based in Costa Mesa, Calif., has launched a campaign to support National Teen Driver Safety Week in an effort to prevent teen motor vehicle accidents and encourage safety behind the wheel. Through the entire month of October, the "It's EZ to Be Safe" campaign invites Southern California teens to take a pledge to drive responsibly.

The "It's EZ to Be Safe Campaign" will run all month long to coincide with National Teen Driver Safety Week, which kicks off on October 16. Established by Congress in 2007, National Teen Driver Safety Week is dedicated to raising awareness and seeking solutions to unnecessary teen deaths on the road.

The "It's EZ to Be Safe" pledge asks teens to be cautious of their surroundings, to adhere to traffic laws and to respect the safety of the people and vehicles and around them when they're driving.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motor vehicle crashes remain the number one cause of death among adolescents. Seventy-five percent of serious teen driver crashes are due to "critical errors," the most common being a failure to scan the road around them to detect and respond to hazards, going too fast for road conditions or being distracted by something or someone inside or outside the vehicle, according to a study published in the April 2011 issue of Accident Analysis and Prevention.

Teens can visit EZ Lube's Facebook page throughout October to take the "It's EZ to Be Safe" pledge. EZ Lube encourages social sharing and hopes that each teen who takes the pledge will share it with their family, friends and classmates to make the roads safer for all drivers.
