LONGMONT, CO--(Marketwire - Apr 2, 2012) - The F4SS (Foundation for Strategic Sourcing), a non-profit organization serving the upstream Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) supply chain, has announced the formation of the Continuous Improvement (CI) Network. The CI Network is a part of a world-class Continuous Improvement development and networking program, designed to provide a forum for benchmarking, technical and non-technical training, and leadership development; utilizing Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing as a platform.

Membership in the CI Network is open to all current F4SS Members. The CI Network boasts many benefits to joining, including:

  • Cost savings and Increased Productivity (% increase in PPLH)
  • Cycle Time reductions
  • Space saved (reduced manufacturing footprint)
  • Inventory reduction (increased turns)
  • System efficiencies (% utilization)
  • Cost effective training with higher relevancy
  • Organizational development
  • CI application in all functional areas
  • Develop a high level of trust and collaboration between Suppliers and Customers through both the development of capabilities and driving alignment with established Continuous Improvement efforts

The CI Network will feature an annual conference and semi-annual workshops. The 2012 F4SS Continuous Improvement Annual Conference will be held in Pittsburgh, PA from October 15-17. Presenters will provide attendees with targeted training on CI techniques and how to apply tools as they begin or further their organization's CI journey.

The opening CI Network Semi-Annual Workshop will take place at General Mills' plant on April 17-18, 2012 in Murfreesboro, TN, just outside of Nashville. The workshop theme is Visual Factory. The workshop will feature an overview and tour of the General Mills plant, tool training on standard work provided by General Mills, as well as presentations from KleenTest Products, Crest Foods, Olam, and Power Packaging.

CI Network members are required to host or present at one of the semi-annual workshops, provide a Best Developed Practice relevant to the workshop topic prior to attendance, and confidentially provide annual results on percentage of waste elimination, inventory reduction and OEE, so Network results can be tracked.

Lisa Shambro, Executive Director of F4SS, stated, "The CI Network was chartered to provide a powerful networking and learning opportunity for all levels of operations line and staff."
