Facebook in a blog post last week announced the launch of their mobile add service, Mobile Ads for Apps. "Facebook has increasingly become a way for iOS and Android developers to grow their apps," the company said. "Today we're announcing a new way for mobile app developers to growth their business with an ad unit that helps them reach and reengage their users."

Google recently purchased Wildfire Interactive, an online marketing company, for $250 million. Wildfire helps companies manage their marketing and advertising on all types of social media channels. "Google wants to be the leader in every single type of digital advertising," said Zachary Reiss-Davis, an analyst with Forrester. "Right now, they can't offer social marketing, so they're building out that part of their portfolio.
