FAIL Blog Community Names United States Congress the Kings and Queens of FAIL for 2011

FAIL Blog Announces the Third Annual Top Ten Lists of the Biggest FAIL People, the Biggest FAIL Moments and the Biggest FAIL Videos for 2011 as Voted On by the FAIL Blog Community

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Dec 8, 2011) - In the year of Weiner showing his wiener, a high-profile super committee failure, the debt ceiling crisis, an insider trading brouhaha and pizza being declared a vegetable, could there be a more colossal embarrassing moment for the United States Congress this year? According to the FAIL Blog ( community, that answer is yes with the entire U.S. Congress beating out Kim Kardashian, Rebecca Black, Muammar Gaddafi, and even the universally detested Westboro Baptist Church, as the Kings and Queens of FAIL for 2011. Justin Bieber, crowned the Prince of FAIL in 2010, can now happily transfer his FAIL prize to the politicians in Washington, D.C.

While Kris Humphries is looking for a way to wipe away his 72-day marriage to Kim Kardashian through an annulment, their marriage will forever live on as the biggest FAIL moment in 2011, which beat out the moment Congress declared pizza a vegetable and Harold Camping's prediction of the Rapture. The results, highlighted in this YouTube video, were compiled from over 60,000 votes cast on FAIL Blog over a 2-day period where fans voted on their most memorable FAIL people, moments, and videos.

"Every year, we have one person who really stands out as the biggest FAIL person of the year, but this year 535 members of Congress get to share the crown," said Ben Huh, CEO and founder of Cheezburger, a network of more than 50 humor and meme sites that include I Can Has Cheezburger?, FAIL Blog, Memebase, Know Your Meme, and The Daily What. "We try not to take ourselves too seriously, so it's somewhat painful to see Congress win this award when you have people like Kim Kardashian, Rebecca Black and Charlie Sheen on the list."

Huh continued, "How bad is Congress' reputation if people think that the Westboro Baptist Church fails less? I'm afraid that Congress may even be ruining our sense of humor. However, our fans have spoken and it has to be somewhat expected in a year of D.C. scandals, gridlock, crises, and a Gallup approval rating of 13 percent."

Of course the FAIL list wouldn't be complete without ranking the FAIL Blog videos submitted by users from around the world of people doing dumb things. The winner of the Top 10 FAIL Videos is the Bootleg Fireworks FAIL that shows a Fourth of July celebration gone wrong. Understanding Physics FAIL ranks second and They See Me Rollin' FAIL follows closely behind.
