Failure to Return to Grierson Centre


EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 12, 2012) - On August 11, 2012, inmate Marc Hegedus failed to return to Grierson Centre, a minimum-security federal penitentiary. The inmate had been in the community on a work release. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has contacted the police and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Marc Hegedus, 42 years old, is described as 183 cm (6') in height, his weight is 114 Kg (252 lbs), he has brown eyes and a shaved head, and has tattoos on his arms, abdomen and upper back. He is currently serving an indeterminate sentence for Second Degree Murder, Break, Enter and Commit, and Assault with a Weapon.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Marc Hegedus is asked to contact police.

CSC will be conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and is working with the Edmonton Police Service to locate this offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all available information to assist in the inmate's apprehension.
