Fairmont Named Top Luxury Hotel Brand Among Affluent Chinese Consumers

#1 Ranking Puts Fairmont in Company of Elite Brands Such as Chanel & Giorgio Armani

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 29, 2011) - Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, an elegant collection of landmark hotels around the world, has been named a top luxury hotel brand by the Luxury Brands Status Index (LBSI). The New York City-based Luxury Institute conducts the survey, which queried high net-worth consumers from China about their impressions of brands in categories such as handbags, fashion and hotels. Respondents were 21 years of age and older, earning the equivalent of one million Chinese Renminbi — at least $185,000 USD per year.

Survey respondents rated each brand on quality, exclusivity, social status and overall ownership experience in addition to price worthiness, willingness to recommend the brand and likelihood of purchase. In China, Fairmont was recognized with top honors in the hotels category, while Chanel garnered recognition for handbags and women's fashion and Giorgio Armani won for top men's fashion.
