Fairmount Minerals Lives Corporate Sustainability Motto -- 'Do Good. Do Well.' -- Earns Place on Center for Companies That Care's 10th Honor Roll

Fairmount and Its 29 Locations Embrace '3 P's' Mission: People, Planet, Prosperity

CHARDON, OH--(Marketwire - Apr 10, 2012) - The 750 employees at Fairmount Minerals have adopted its corporate sustainability motto -- "Do Good. Do Well." -- as an organizational challenge and earned the producer of industrial sand a place on Center for Companies That Care's 10th Honor Roll.

Fairmount Minerals was named to the nonprofit's Honor Roll that recognizes private, public, for-profit or nonprofit employers who demonstrate "outstanding workplace practices and active community involvement," according to Center for Companies That Care. Each Honor Roll organization adheres to the 10 Characteristics of Socially Responsible Employers such as "appreciating people, developing great leaders and volunteerism."

Fairmount Minerals' Honor Roll recognition comes after a series of community outreach activities that represent its "3 P's" mission of people, planet and prosperity: the company volunteered some 450 employees during its Summit Day of Caring to lend a hand to the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park; donated and helped plant 50,000 jack pine seedlings for future bird habitat in the Kirtland Warbler Recovery Area near Grayling, Mich.; progressed toward a zero-waste goal at its Chardon, Ohio facility; a $1.3 million education grant for Northeast Ohio schools for special programs and technology, including iPads; $100,000 to the Chardon Healing Fund for families and the community affected by the high school shooting and contributed thousands of dollars to nonprofits benefiting from employees' volunteerism and matching grants.

Fairmount Minerals, its 29 locations and the Fairmount Minerals Foundation give back to more than 20 international communities. The company will be recognized as an Honor Roll recipient this summer in Chicago at Center for Companies That Care's annual symposium, which includes networking, learning and an Executive Leadership Forum. The nonprofit is dedicated to ensuring social sustainability by engaging employers in improving the lives of employees, families and communities.

"We make it a company-wide priority to live our motto and 3 P's mission," said Reginald L. Stover, Fairmount Minerals' VP of People and Talent Development. "Every one of our employees helps make corporate sustainability a reality for us, and this Honor Roll designation means a great deal to our entire organization."

Center for Companies That Care selects its Honor Roll using a "thorough yet applicant-friendly process." The Honor Roll selection process includes the review of a written application, employee survey results and a media search.

Fairmount Minerals makes its employees the top priority of its 3 P's mission. The employee-first focus has "the greatest impact on our final bottom line -- prosperity," Stover said. The company, for instance, has netted multimillion-dollar savings through refreshed health and wellness programs, including adding family members between kindergarten and 17 and rewarding positive lifestyle changes with cash rewards. Fairmount Minerals' professional development programs have also uncovered 11 promising projects through Regional Innovation Assemblies utilizing the Appreciative Inquiry methodology.

Stover added that Fairmount Minerals will "hold up the Honor Roll distinction as inspiration to keep connecting with all of our employees and the many communities where we live and work."
