Falcon Discovery Attorneys Achieve Certified E-Discovery Specialists (CEDS) Credentials

DENVER, CO--(Marketwire - May 22, 2012) - Falcon Discovery (, the leader in managed in-house legal and technology services, announced today that John Mooney, Director of Client Services, and Brandon Hollinder, Senior Discovery Consultant, both recently joined a select group of e-discovery professionals by passing the Certified E-Discovery Specialists (CEDS) exam. Mr. Mooney and Mr. Hollinder have now earned the right to use the credential, CEDS, to acknowledge their accreditation and distinction among e-discovery professionals. Mr. Mooney and Mr. Hollinder are based in Falcon's Denver office.

Developed and administered by the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), the 227-question four-hour CEDS exam serves as the gold standard for demonstrating e-discovery competence. ACEDS is the premier membership organization of e-discovery professionals in the world. Since the exam was first offered in November 2010, professionals in the United States, Canada, the UK and China have earned the CEDS certification. Mr. Hollinder has also been selected to serve on the educational committee of ACEDS, which intends to enhance the educational outreach and training that ACEDS provides.

Don McLaughlin, Falcon's President and Founder, commented, "We are proud that John Mooney and Brandon Hollinder have achieved the CEDS certification and distinguished themselves among the industry's top e-discovery professionals. This is all the more important because the CEDS exam provides an objective benchmark and independent validation of e-discovery expertise. The certification also underscores Falcon's deep commitment to enhancing and developing the skills and expertise that our exceptional team delivers to valued clients every day."

CEDS designation is powerful evidence of specialized expertise
The CEDS certification is compelling evidence that designees are competent and knowledgeable in e-discovery regardless of their professional specialization -- whether they are lawyers, litigation support staff, records managers, information technology (IT) specialists, technology officials, court personnel, paralegals or consultants. The credential is an assurance to employers, colleagues and clients that the CEDS-certified professional is serious about efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and risk reduction in all phases of e-discovery.

Falcon's Summary of the ACEDS 2012 Conference in Hollywood, FL

Falcon recently attended the 2012 ACEDS conference and distributed summary notes via its blog, for those who were unable to attend. Some key topics from the conference included:

  • The similarities between the Da Silva Moore and Pippins cases and the very different outcomes.
  • Harnessing social media and handling it delicately during litigation.
  • The importance of asking the right questions when choosing an outside vendor for your discovery needs.
  • The events that led to the e-discovery malpractice action against McDermott, Will and Emery.

"The ACEDs conference was a successful, informative and educational experience. It was very valuable to collaborate with other experts in the field across many disciplines with differing points of view; something you do not receive at many conferences. I am looking forward to next year," observed John Mooney, Falcon's Director of Client Services.
