Famed Eyewear Purveyor, MOSCOT, Designers of Coveted MOSCOT Originals and MOSCOT Spirit Eyewear Collections, Announces the Launch of Seven Bold New Styles, for Spring/Summer 2009

Company Also Announces New Color -- Crystal Brown Fade -- for Best-Selling Frames, The Nebb and The Lemtosh

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 4, 2009) - Venerable New York City institution, MOSCOT Eyewear and Eyecare Since 1915, today announced the launch of seven brand new frame styles that will have heads turning and tongues wagging.

MOSCOT appends its highly coveted, MOSCOT Originals collection with three bold and exciting new frame styles -- two ophthalmic frames and 1 new sunglass style -- The Ginger, The Theroux, and The Zulu. The company also adds four new styles -- one ophthalmic and three sunglasses -- to the MOSCOT Spirit collection, which seamlessly blends progressive styling with classic details.

THE GINGER ophthalmic or sunglasses) -- Named for Grandma Sylvia (wife of Sol Moscot) who wore these Harlequin shaped glasses with aplomb. A born actress (in her mind at least), Sylvia called herself "Ginger" after her favorite Hollywood actress and never left home without these large, chunky frames to shield her from adoring fans. Frames are available in Black/Pink or Moss and feature a five-barrel hinge and two star rivets on either side -- befitting of the star you'll look like wearing them. Price = $179.00

THE THEROUX (ophthalmic or sunglasses) -- Named for our friend and long time MOSCOT customer, actor Justin Theroux, this frame is our boldest frame ever -- not for the timid! Based on a vintage French frame from the 1960's that Justin wore for the film, "Mulholland Drive," these frames are an exact replica -- right down to its extra thick temples, uniquely shaped hardware, hinge plate, five-barrel hinge, bridge and end piece. Available in Black only -- like a downtown New Yorker would be seen in anything else! The first edition Theroux's are limited to 300 pieces, with each frame laser numbered for authenticity. Price = $189.00

THE ZULU (sunglasses only) -- Named for our strapping and unconventional uncle, Uncle Zulu Puskin (yes, that's his real name) who was a runner for a famed New York bookie back in the day, the Zulu recreates the ubiquitous American Optical Pilot frame made famous in the 1940s. This square shaped frame is strong and sturdy so it can really take a beating -- urban or otherwise, if you catch our drift. These frames come with G15 aviator lens color and real glass lenses. Available in Gold or Black. Price = $189.00

THE LYNNIE (ophthalmic or sunglasses) -- Sorry gents, this frame is for women! Wider and fuller than the Kimmel, this sleek, sophisticated, hardware-free frame features state-of-the-art laminated color and a translucent end piece that illuminates the face. Available in Brown with Ochre/Emerald back, Burgundy with Walnut back or Black with Salmon back. Price = $179.00

THE SIMMONS (sunglasses only) -- Everything you've ever wanted from a pair of sunglasses -- practical and good looking, this wrap around frame offers the maximum sun protection without sacrificing an iota of style or sophistication. The unisex frame fits close to the face and features polarized lenses with back anti-reflective coating and spring hinge. Available in Matte Grey or Matte Black. Price = $189.00

THE DIANE (sunglasses only) -- These classic oversized women's sunglasses provide the perfect cover whether you're hiding from the sun, or the paparazzi -- or maybe just a late night. Available in Black with Pear White Temple or Brown. Price = $189.00

THE TIMOTHY (ophthalmic or sunglasses) -- Named for the fella who helped make us famous, this classic full-vue shaped frame will raise your IQ 50 points the moment you put them on -- and if you believe that, you really need these. The smart design combines plastic and metal for a look that's sleek, light and narrow, without being wimpy. It features hypo-allergenic, super lightweight and tarnish free titanium temples on either side. Available in Grey or Amber. Price = $189.00

Also announced today, the availability of best-selling MOSCOT Original frames, The Nebb and The Lemtosh in Brown Crystal Fade -- these two toned frames will complement any face as they fade from top(brown) to bottom(clear). Price = $179.00

MOSCOT has been a New York City institution for over 90 years. Patriarch Hyman Moscot began selling eyeglasses from a pushcart on Manhattan's famed Lower East Side in the early 1900s and the rest, as they say, is history. Today, fourth generation Moscot siblings, Kenny and Dr. Harvey Moscot, run the company. Each MOSCOT location offers a selection of more than 1,000 frames from a wide variety of well-known eyewear and sunglass designers, as well as a comprehensive inventory of contact and eyeglass lenses, and the company's very own branded line of vintage-inspired glasses and sunglasses, the wildly successful, MOSCOT Originals. MOSCOT's newest line, MOSCOT Spirit, remains true to the company's classic downtown identity by mixing elements of the Originals with modern new styling. MOSCOT Eyecare, the eye health services also offered at all MOSCOT locations, provides patients with comprehensive eye care services -- from routine eye examinations and vision exams for corrective lenses to sophisticated eye health assessments using the latest technology available for a more accurate diagnosis and treatment of a full range of medical eye conditions and maladies. Together the fourth generation of Moscots has expanded the business while maintaining the spirit of their great grandfather's philosophy with their current mission: "To offer the best possible optical experience to our customers and patients by dispensing warmth, courtesy and expertise."
