Family Farmers Featured in New Photo Exhibition at Montreal-Trudeau Airport

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - June 19, 2015) - Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) is pleased and proud to partner with Équiterre to present the exhibition À la découverte des fermiers de famille, by photographer Vincenzo d'Alto. The photos, which explore the vegetable-growing operations of family farmers in Québec, are on view until the end of September in the transborder departures area of Montréal-Trudeau airport.

"We are delighted to partner with Équiterre and to be able to provide it with this exhibition space to highlight one facet of its activities. The exhibition aims to raise airport users' awareness of local organic farming," says Christiane Beaulieu, ADM's Vice-President, Public Affairs and Communications.

For her part, Isabelle St-Germain, Deputy Director of Équiterre, explains: "With this exhibition, Équiterre is seeking to show travellers the beauty of working the land while raising their awareness of human-scale local farming. The photos and captions are both evocative and informative. And for anyone who wants to sign up for our organic vegetable baskets, all the information they need is right there."

Members of the Équiterre network of family farmers provide their organically grown produce to more than 13,000 families who subscribe for an entire season and, each week, receive a basket of fresh local vegetables at a drop-off point of their choice. The network comprises more than 100 farms in 14 different regions of Québec.

"With their sustainable agricultural practices, family farmers help protect soil and waterways, as well as workers' health," notes Isabelle Joncas, Project Manager for Équiterre's organic baskets program. "Équiterre encourages and supports the new generation of farmers, the dynamic occupancy of land in the regions, and the bonds of solidarity between citizens and farmers."
