Family Fun "Sturgeon Spectacular" - 3 Day Celebration

Feb. 12-14 - Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC, WI--(Marketwired - Feb 1, 2016) - Fond du Lac, WI celebrates the 200 million year history of the prehistoric fish with its first annual STURGEON SPECTACULAR - A Celebration of Winter. And really big fish. - February 12-14, 2016. In addition to traditional sturgeon spear-fishing, activities on and off the lake will include a new and unique event for Lake Winnebago - an outdoor hockey game, as well as ice kiting, fireworks, and more. Plus, the Downtown District will host FREE entertainment, food specials, and a chili crawl. On the ice Sturgeon Spectacular activities include:

  • The 27th Annual Sturgeon Stampede featuring ice-kiting, wind surfing, ice bowling, live music and more - Friday through Sunday
  • Outdoor Sturgeon Classic Hockey Game featuring Fond du Lac Bears vs. the Monroe Blues - Saturday
  • U8 Mite Hockey Tournament - Saturday
  • Public Ice Skating (rentals available) - Friday & Saturday
  • "Spear The Fatty" Bike Race and Booty Adventure Run - Saturday
  • Dog Sled Rides - Saturday

"Fishing Has No Boundaries," sponsors a Sturgeon Spearing event specifically for individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Afterward, all attendees can enjoy food, beverages, and music.

Off the ice, Sturgeon Spectacular activities include:

  • Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts - music and "Kiss The Sturgeon" contest
  • "Sturgeon Stories: Shaping a Culture" - Saturday
  • Chili Crawl - Downtown - Saturday
  • Horse Drawn Carriage Rides - Sunday
  • Snowshoe Making Workshop - Sunday

The family fun Sturgeon Spectacular weekend will feature restaurant and retail specials and hotel packages for visitors and local families who want to enjoy a "staycation."
