Famous German Children's Book Characters Now Fly Condor

Condor and Children's Book Writer Janosch Support German Relief Agency With a Major Fundraiser

FRANKFURT, GERMANY--(Marketwired - Jul 10, 2013) - Germany's most popular leisure airline and well-known children's book author Janosch are supporting the German relief agency "BILD hilft e.V. -- A Heart for Children" in a major fundraising campaign. Condor will be donating a percentage of its ticket sales and revenue from numerous special campaigns to the organisation. Janosch is supporting Condor: A Boeing 767, registration D-ABUE, has now a special livery with the adventures of the characters from Janosch's books. The little tiger and bear and the so called "Tigerduck" travel the world on the aircraft fuselage and on the engines to draw attention to the campaign. Even the Condor logo and the web address on the aircraft have been adapted to the typical Janosch illustrations. All the other aircraft are to be given Janosch characters in the Condor logo.

Famous children's author Janosch is excited about the fundraising campaign and happy to let his figures fly around the world on a Condor aircraft. "Tigerduck is flying Condor!" he gladly says. Ralf Teckentrup, Chairman of the Management Board at Condor, adds: "We are fully aware of our social responsibility, and we would also like to help those children who are less fortunate in life. The cooperation with 'A Heart for Children' plays an important part in this."

The relief agency "BILD hilft e.V. -- A Heart for Children" supports children in need both nationally and internationally. It helps to fund children's facilities and projects as well as emergency operations. Supporting them is one of the many different components of Condor's "ConTribute" initiative, in which it has bundled its CSR activities. It focuses on cultural integration, sustainable travel, projects for children and providing aid in the event of natural disasters.

Condor Flugdienst GmbH has been flying its guests to worldwide destinations since 1956. On an annual basis, 6.7 million passengers fly with Condor. Condor is the Germans' favorite airline: In a customer satisfaction survey conducted by the German Institute for Service Quality (DISQ) in December 2012, Condor placed first and was the only airline to be awarded the seal "very good." Since March 1, 2013, Condor has merged with the airlines Thomas Cook Airlines UK and Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium to form the Thomas Cook Airline Group.
