Fampus™ Redefines College Experience With First Social Events Site Tailored for Each University Student Body

Recognizing Unique Environment of 4-Year College Campuses, Fampus Launches Free Social Events Site for Students Wanting to Find Fun Fast

DES MOINES, IA--(Marketwire - Sep 23, 2011) - Fampus, the first social events site tailored exclusively for university student bodies, announced today its formal launch at several four-year universities. The free service, which was founded by University of Wisconsin-Madison student Brittany Brody, specifically aims to keep students connected to what's happening on and around their campus. Fampus' hyper-local service allows enrolled students with a current .edu email address to gain access to a vast array of events, activities and content (such as photos and user comment streams) as part of its mission to enrich each student's college experience outside the classroom.

Each university student body will have a unique Fampus site that will include activities and events associated with that college and college town. Unlike other event databases on the web that don't tailor these features for each university, Fampus developed a hyper-local experience where students at each campus could better socialize with their peers and understand for the first time the full-range of activities and events at their disposal. To accomplish this new "experience," Fampus employees verify and upload events to each university-branded Fampus site, which helps eliminate redundancy and inaccuracy that would be present in a user-managed environment. When a student attends an event, they can post their photos and comments to Fampus in real-time, allowing other students to see what's happening.

"Instead of attending one of my local universities, I chose to attend an out-of-state college where I immediately realized that I was starting a whole new life and needed something to help me better connect with my campus and peers," said Brittany Brody, Founder of Fampus. "That's when it occurred to me that there was a huge opportunity to help not just myself, but other students to have a much better time during their college years."

Fampus launched at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, in the fall of 2010 with a beta site based on Brittany's original plan to help students FIND FUN FAST™ around campus. Within two months, a large part of the student body had registered and the feedback began to roll in regarding improvements. Fampus listened, went back to the drawing board and created a site with a richer user experience. As part of its 2011 formal launch, Fampus is debuting its new service with several universities surrounding its headquarters including: Grand View University, Drake University, Simpson College, Iowa State University, University of Iowa, University of Nebraska at Lincoln and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

"The site features the latest and greatest web technologies and some of the most engaging social networking you will see on any site, all focused around events and social gatherings," said Brad Goldman, VP of Operations of Fampus. "We believe Fampus will revolutionize how students find events and interact with each other on their campuses."
