Fandor Teams Up With Ebertfest to Expand the Festival's Online Reach

Indie Movie Streaming Service to Provide Free Online Access to Festival Content

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 24, 2012) - Fandor, a curated online service for watching exceptional films, today announced that it has partnered with the sold-out Ebertfest to make festival content, including films, panel discussion and Q&As, available on the web for those who cannot attend in person. Inaugurated by Roger Ebert, the 14th annual Ebertfest takes place April 25 - 29 in Champaign, Illinois and will be attended by movie lovers from across the country.

As part of this partnership, Fandor will make all discussion panels and Q&As available on Keyframe, its online film magazine, as well as its YouTube channel. Fandor will also be presenting all ten short films featured in Flicker Alley's WILD AND WEIRD collection on Fandor's Ebertfest page. The shorts program, which features classic films by Georges Méliès, Buster Keaton and others, with new scores by the Alloy Orchestra, will be streamed in conjunction with the live screening at Ebertfest and will be freely available to Fandor members and non-members through the end of the festival.

Additionally, Fandor will be featuring 17 of Roger Ebert's Favorite Films throughout the duration of the festival, including such classic titles as NOSFERATU, METROPOLIS and UN CHIEN ANDALOU. Fandor will also be serving as a Diamond sponsor of this year's festival and will offer a free 3-month membership to all Ebertfest attendees.

"Fandor is a great place for movie lovers to discover amazing films, especially must-see titles they can't find anywhere else," said Mr. Ebert. "We're looking forward to having Fandor participate in this year's Ebertfest and are thrilled that they will help bring our event to people who couldn't make it in person."

"Fandor shares Roger Ebert's passion for great films that deserve more attention," said Dan Aronson, founder and CEO of Fandor. "We are excited to partner with Ebertfest to expand the reach of the festival and to help movie fans across the country connect with this wonderful event."

Fandor caters to film lovers by offering one of the web's largest collections of films that celebrate a passion for cinema, providing access to great films that can't be found anywhere else.

Fandor supports filmmakers by leveraging social media networks so that members can easily share the movies they find and love, and through a unique distribution model that shares a substantial portion of its subscription fees with filmmakers and distributors. Fandor is subsidizing the free viewing of Ebertfest films and complementary memberships, ensuring that filmmaking partners are fully compensated.
