Fantasy Sports Segment Joined Top Ranks in ChoiceStream's November Audience Cost Calendar

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Nov 20, 2013) -  ChoiceStream, the top choice for brand advertisers interested in advanced target optimization and programmatic buying, today announced the next installment of its Audience Cost Calendar -- a monthly aggregation of impressions traded on digital ad exchanges. The Audience Cost Calendar was created to help media buyers and marketers understand trends in the cost of various online audiences. During the Month of October Baseball and Pro Basketball came to a peak, while Fantasy Sports jumped to the number three spot among audience segments. 

Holiday gift season is in full swing with Holidays and Events: Gift Giving Holidays being the highest riser in October, gaining 119 positions. Two age ranges, Age: 35-44 and Age 45-54, were also big gainers, rising 74 and 75 positions respectively. All other age ranges also made significant gains. 

"Holidays and Events: Gift Giving Holidays is always the one to watch at this time of year," said Bill Guild, VP Marketing at ChoiceStream. "It is interesting because this category traditionally moves to the top of the index during this time of year, yet it is one of those segments that fluctuates greatly throughout the year. This segment ranges from a rank of 300, which it hit in August, to a rank of 1, which it reached in November last year. This year's climb started in October rising to rank 185, and we look for it to continue climbing into the top ten for November."

In one apparent contradiction, Charity: Donors was a top riser while Charity: Fundraisers was one of the biggest losers. The top ranking segments in October continued to be the perennial favorites from the Travel category, but the seasonal segments gained and lost as predicted by past trends.

The segments that dropped precipitously in October were mostly automotive with the exceptions of Business: Logistics, which dropped 165 places to rank 272, and Education: Elementary & Middle School, which dropped 194 places to 298.
