Farallon Announces Further Drill Results for G-9

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 12, 2006) - Farallon Resources Ltd. (TSX:FAN) -

HIGH GRADE MASSIVE SULPHIDE, GOLD AND BONANZA GRADE SILVER INTERSECTIONS MADE: ONE OUNCE OF GOLD PER TONNE AND OVER 20% ZINC IN SOME INTERVALS

Dick Whittington, President & CEO of Farallon Resources Ltd., is pleased to provide a further update from drilling at the new high grade G-9 deposit, discovered last year at the Company's Campo Morado polymetallic (zinc, gold, silver, copper, lead) project in Guerrero State, Mexico. The size of the G-9 deposit continues to expand and a new high grade zone has been discovered in a southeast extension of the deposit. The results of several new drill holes are now available.

The latest results are from 16 exploration holes, all drilled at G-9. Highlights of the new results are tabulated below. Results from the new holes along with all previous holes at G-9 are included in the attached Assay Table. Hole locations are shown on the attached Drill Hole Location Plan. A Deposit Location Map is also included.

Significant intersections of high grade base metals with intervals of high gold and bonanza silver grades are evident in the new results. Hole 498 has 14.5 metres grading 21.27% Zn and 1.93% Cu with a second deeper zone grading 15.99 g/t Au, 682 g/t Ag and 5.73% Zn over a true width of 3.8 metres. Hole 510 also has two high grade zones with the deeper zone grading 34.95 g/t Au and 1,930 g/t Ag over a true width of 2.9 metres. This last hole is a step out from hole 486, which also intercepted excellent grade massive sulphide mineralization as well as high grade gold and "Bonanza" grade silver and is the highest grade hole drilled on the property to date.

The deposit remains open to the northwest and southeast. Drilling re-commenced on January 10. Results of any new assays will be released when received. Highlights of the new drilling results are:

These new results augment the resource base at G-9 by expanding the deposit (hole 498 - see attached section) and reaffirming its high grade nature. The combination of massive sulphides with high grade gold and "Bonanza" grade silver is unique and adds significant value to the projects overall development potential, allowing for mine development plans that can maximize the value of each metal according to prevailing prices at any one time. G-9 supports this development scenario in both respects.

"These results are further confirmation of the high grade nature of the G-9 discovery. The results of hole 498 are particularly gratifying as it is evidence for a new high grade zone in the southeastern section of the deposit. These are, by far, the highest grades in this location and point to the consistent high grade tenor of the deposit over its entire strike length.

Also encouraging is the presence of two high grade zones in holes 498 and 510, which were drilled at opposite ends of the deposit. Hole 510 confirms the high grade zone, encountered in hole 486 last year, continues in the deposit and is not an anomaly. I am excited that drilling has re-commenced and am looking forward to further exploring this exciting discovery."

The in-house qualified person for the drilling program and selection of samples for metallurgical testwork at Campo Morado is Daniel Kilby, P.Eng. ALS Chemex is the analytical laboratory for the project; sample preparation is done in Guadalajara, Mexico and analysis is done in Vancouver, BC. All samples are assayed for gold by fire assay fusion with a gravimetric or Atomic Absorption (AA) finish. Silver, copper, lead, zinc and 27 to 30 additional elements are determined for all samples by acid digestion, followed by an AA or ICP finish. Duplicates are analyzed by Acme Analytical Laboratories in Vancouver.
