The Farha Foundation announces the results of the WALK FOR LIFE: Nearly 15 000 Walkers and $340,000

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 25, 2005) - Nearly 15 000 people from all over the province took to the streets today in the 13th edition of the WALK FOR LIFE, organized by the Farha Foundation. As of 3 p.m. this afternoon, the Montreal AIDS walk helped raise $340,000. The Foundation notices a slight decrease in funds raised to date, compared to previous years.

The president of the Farha Foundation, Mr Pierre Mitchell, is very pleased with the number of people who showed up for the walk. He thanks the population for their strong response to the AIDS crisis. Not only do the funds raised help people living with HIV and AIDS, but it also gives a well deserved support to the hundreds of people working daily in the fight against AIDS.

"Slowly but surely, and with great devotion, we manage to tear down part of the wall of indifference that surrounds this disease. Yet our work doesn't stop here, we still have to continue fighting. It is with great determination that we continue our fundraising efforts. Our campaign ends December 1st, on INTERNATIONAL AIDS DAY. We hope to have reached $500,000 by then. " says Mr. Mitchell. The population is therefore invited to call the Farha Foundation to help them reach their goal by December 1st, 2005.

Thanks to MOLSON, lead sponsor for the Walk, as well as platinum sponsors such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Allard Johnson Communications, TVA, CTV, Cite Rock Detente along with many others, 100% of the funds raised will be used by HIV/AIDS organizations across the province, offering direct support to those living with the disease, as well as for education and prevention programs.

To make a donation, the population is invited to call the Farha Foundation at 514-270-5010, or visit them at www.farha.qc.ca.
