Farha Foundation Shares Words of Support for World AIDS Day

CA MARCHE 2015 campaign closes with almost $300,000 raised for the fight against HIV/AIDS

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Dec. 1, 2015) - The Farha Foundation, Quebec's leading HIV/AIDS fundraising organization, brings the ÇA MARCHE 2015 campaign to a close, today, on World AIDS Day, by paying tribute to those that have been touched by this terrible disease. In recognition of World AIDS Day, today, December 1, 2015 at noon, the Farha Foundation is asking the community to share their message of support on social media.

ÇA MARCHE is Quebec's largest AIDS walk and this year it raised almost $300,000 in support of over 20,000 men, women and children in Quebec affected by HIV/AIDS. Thousands of people joined the Farha Foundation and ALDO at Le Parterre Du Quartier Des Spectacles to lead the change and come together as a community in support of the hope for a cure.

"World AIDS Day is a moment for everyone to stop and come together in solidarity with all of those who have been affected by HIV/AIDS around the globe, but it's also more than that," said Linda Farha, volunteer president and spokesperson, Farha Foundation. "It's an opportunity for the world to renew its commitment to the HIV/AIDS cause and to the daily needs of people who fight against this disease. That is why for over 23 years, the Farha Foundation has been instrumental in supporting prevention and education programs, food, housing, medication, counselling and support to those who really need it across Quebec."

The Farha Foundation would like to thank the sponsors whose contributions make ÇA MARCHE 2015 possible: AbbVie, ALDO, Ballon Bar, Bust a Move, C3 Events, Club Bolo, École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, École supérieure de ballet du Québec, Ensemble vocal DivertisSon, FCB Montreal, Gilead, Guru, Humago, Ivanhoé Cambridge, La Danse Sur les Routes du Québec, Lassonde, Naya, Piknic Electronik, Rouge FM Street Parade, Swedish Fit, Theratechnologies, Van Houtte, Virgin Radio and Zenergy Communications. We are also extremely grateful to our supporting partners, volunteers and dedicated staff.

About ÇA MARCHE

ÇA MARCHE, one of the first Farha Foundation events to emerge in 1993, is an annual walkathon of seven kilometers, gathering thousands of people aiming at raising funds and sensitizing the population to the HIV/AIDS cause.

To maximize awareness of the event, the Farha Foundation asks you to spread the word to as many people as possible. In doing so, you will contribute directly to helping those living with HIV/AIDS, a disease that currently infects as many as two people a day in Quebec. To find out more, visit camarche.ca.
