#Farha5Min: The Online Event That Gets Attention

The Farha Foundation is rallying around this hashtag to bring the community together in support of World AIDS Day.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 14, 2013) - The Farha Foundation, Quebec's leading HIV/AIDS fundraising organization, is honoured to support World AIDS Day (December 1) with its online event entitled #Farha5Min. The goal is to unite the community on Friday, December 1, 2013 between noon and 12:10 p.m. across all social media outlets and together pledge five minutes of silence followed by five minutes of noise using the hashtag #Farha5Min.

"On World AIDS Day, we want to lead the change with messages of hope, support and solidarity for all of those affected by HIV/AIDS so that one day we may live in a world without AIDS," said Linda Farha, volunteer president and spokesperson of the Foundation. "This event is intended to raise awareness about the disease and spread the message to our youth as they are our future. Social media is a powerful platform to communicate to this group and to our society at large. We invite everyone to pledge their five minutes of silence and then get ready to make some noise!"

The Foundation welcomes your thoughts especially during the five minutes of noise. Participants are encouraged to share stories, photos of themselves or friends wearing their red ribbons (or red shoes) or communicate messages of hope with the hashtag #Farha5Min. By using this hashtag, participants can show how they are contributing in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Visit the Facebook event for more information and updates on #Farha5Min.

December 1 also marks the last day of the ÇA MARCHE 2013 campaign. In order to meet its 2013 goal of $400,000, the Foundation has another $150,000 to raise by this deadline. Commemorate World AIDS Day and make a difference in the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS in Quebec. Lead the change for those who can't. Donations can be made online, by mail or by calling the Farha Foundation. Visit camarche.ca for more information.
