Farm Meets Delicious: Darigold Farmalicious Campaign Brings Unexpected Events to Seattle and Portland

Floating Lake Union Feast and 20-Foot Fridge Spectacular Capture Attention in the Name of Delicious Dairy

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Aug 28, 2012) - Darigold, Inc., the marketing and processing subsidiary of the Northwest Dairy Association, today announced the launch of its Farmalicious campaign aimed at showing people what happens when "farm meets delicious." The campaign emphasizes the wonderful "farmalicious" food people can create with Darigold products. Throughout the fall, special planned events will highlight the company's wholesome, high quality dairy products and raise awareness for Darigold as a unique farmer-owned business.

The campaign will feature several activities in Seattle and Portland, where Darigold has a large presence and fan base. Activities include:

  • The Farmalicious Floating Feast: Twelve lucky winners will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dine under the stars atop a huge floating barge smack in the middle of Seattle's South Lake Union. Renowned Seattle chefs Brian McCracken and Dana Tough of The Coterie Room will serve a surreal family-style dinner to more than 40 diners on the "Floating Feast" barge, which will be transformed into a floating farm for the evening complete with a barn kitchen, white picket fence and real grass. The dinner, featuring an array of Darigold products, takes place September 12, and consumers can enter to win a spot via a contest launching next month on Darigold's Facebook page.

  • Fun Fridge Farm: A giant 20-foot fridge and several smaller ones will appear in Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square on September 29, complete with Darigold samplings, giveaways, local celebrities, live music and more. Each fridge will feature a unique function and design. The event will also involve a food drive, in which members of the community can bring their non-perishable food donations to help fill a designated refrigerator. Once full, Darigold will donate the food and $5,000 to Birch Community Services, Inc. to fight hunger in Portland.

  • Neighborhood Tractors: Iconic John Deere tractors will be decked out in Darigold fashion and toured around to highlight the little known fact that Darigold is owned by farmers -- more than 550 of them throughout the Northwest. Tractors will make appearances in September, October and November at local events in Seattle and Portland, complete with delicious food samples.

  • Farmalicious Corn Maze: What's more Farmalicious than an old fashioned corn maze? Darigold will bring a 216,000 square foot corn maze to the South Sound during the whole month of October. The event will also feature samplings of buttery popcorn, trike races, apple slingshot competitions and more.

"Dairy doesn't have to be dull and this campaign is to show people all the amazing things they can do with Darigold to really make the brand their own," said Jan Roberts, director of marketing for Darigold. "Our goal is to reconnect to our customers throughout the Northwest, and present Darigold in a new light, showcasing our local farmers and delicious products."
