Farmland, Hunting Land and Homes Along Ohio River to Sell in Oct. 6 Auction

HENDERSON, KY--(Marketwire - September 1, 2010) -  More than 4,745 acres of land along the Ohio River near Henderson, Ky., will sell at auction Wednesday, Oct. 6. The land includes approximately 3,435 acres of tillable land and more than two miles of frontage on the river.

"The location on the Ohio River offers cost-effective access to grain markets, with a river grain terminal just three miles away," said Gene Klingaman, executive vice president of Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company, which will conduct the auction.

Some of the tillable land has Wheeling silt loam (elk) as the predominant soil type, according to Klingaman. "This soil type is capable of producing 180 to 200 bushels of corn per acre and 60 bushels of soybeans per acre," he said.

The land's 2010 crop includes corn, milo, soybeans, wheat and double crop soybeans.

The land also offers a number of wooded tracts with strong populations of deer, goose and duck. "The land borders the river on one side and the Sloughs Wildlife Management Area (WMA) on the other. The WMA is the second largest in Kentucky, with approximately 10,000 acres," said Klingaman.

The land will be sold in 44 tracts ranging from a single acre to approximately 350 acres. All but seven of the tracts include tillable land. Eleven of the tracts have frontage on the river or slough.

Also being sold are three country homes and two home sites.

The auction will begin at 5 p.m. at The Centre, 715 Locust Street, Evansville, Ind. Schrader personnel will be available for open house and inspections on Sept. 1, 2, 15, and 16, and on Oct. 6. Individuals seeking additional information may visit or call 800-451-2709.
