Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping Launches FIT Start Program, a Low-Impact Fitness Regiment Designed for Moderate Lifestyle Improvements

FIT Start Creates Opportunity for Apprehensive Participants to Experience Life Changing Results of Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping by Removing Particular High-Impact Exercises

DES MOINES, IA--(Marketwire - Sep 22, 2011) - Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping, a popular and rapidly expanding fitness franchise developed in the heart of the Midwest, announced today the launch of the FIT Start program as a low-impact fitness alternative for participants apprehensive about starting the traditional Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping challenge. FIT Start was developed by Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping for participants with a variety of fitness hurdles including high body mass index and prior injuries. The 10-week FIT Start program will include all of the elements of Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping program -- kickboxing, resistance training, nutrition and support -- but will be modified with low-impact exercises in order to reduce potential injuries.

"The great thing about the FIT Start program is we are able to help people who may have been too intimidated to try Farrell's in the past," said Lance Farrell, founder of Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping. "The FIT Start program can give people who have struggled with their health for years a second chance at getting their life back on the right track. In fact, the participants of our summer pilot program surprised us, and themselves, at how much they were able to accomplish in just those 10 weeks."

This summer, Farrell's eXtreme Bodyshaping and Iowa Health ran a pilot FIT Start program at the Farrell's Waukee, Iowa, location. The pilot session included a small group of gastric bypass candidates, some of them weighing in at over 400 pounds. Workouts were similar to traditional Farrell's workouts, but included modifications to reduce risk of injury such as less jumping, slower music, and utilizing a chair instead of the floor. The pilot participants experienced such dramatic results that Farrell's is opening up the FIT Start program to the general public at five of its Des Moines area locations starting on Oct 1, 2011. Classes will be 45 minutes, six days a week with one of the classes on Saturday mornings focused towards recovery and monitoring results. In the Saturday morning class, participants will also turn in a food log to help them keep their nutrition on track. The FIT Start program will be offered at the following Farrell's locations and class times:

  • Waukee at 6:30 p.m.
  • Urbandale at 9:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
  • South Des Moines on Fleur Drive at 7:30 p.m.
  • Johnston at 7:30 p.m.
  • South Ankeny at 7:30 p.m.

Farrell's is a results-based fitness program for participants of any age, life style, sex or athletic ability. Since Farrell's inception in 2001, over 30,000 lives have been transformed. Classes run for 45 minutes a day, six days a week, for ten consecutive weeks. At the end of each 10-week session, one participant from each location is awarded a $1,000 prize for the most dramatic transformation.
