TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 30, 2007) -

The Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC) puts Canadian fashion front and center this season, setting up camp at Nathan Phillips Square. From October 22nd-27th, under one white tented roof, design talent from across the country will showcase their Spring 2008 collections at L'Oreal Fashion Week. Hosted by the FDCC, the weeklong event will bring movers and shakers of the fashion elite from across the globe together for a medley of runway shows, installations, galas and fashion soirees.

Spring / Summer 08 will be staged under a 30,000 square foot eco-friendly tented space, as the Canadian fashion community witnesses another accomplishment from the FDCC.

"I'm extremely pleased that L'Oreal Fashion Week is being held on City Hall's front yard for the first time," says Mayor David Miller. "The fashion industry forms a vitally important part of the cultural backbone of Toronto and I'm incredibly proud of what this industry has given to the city."

President of the Fashion Design Council of Canada, Robin Kay, adds "Building our 14th season in the heart of Toronto is fitting exposure and energy for our fabulous designers, brilliant sponsors and attending industry. What better way to shout aloud "Toronto is the fashion capitol of Canada."

World renowned fashion journalist, Jeanne Beker, is also among those who champion the choice of location for L'Oreal Fashion Week. "Staging the upcoming collections in iconic tents in the middle of downtown Toronto is a fantasy-come-true for all us Canadian journalists who've covered the international stage for so long". Some of the greatest shows on earth are presented under these theatrical 'big tops'... And the fact the entire city will have the awareness that L'Oreal Fashion Week is going on in our midst is just brilliant! This will do wonders for raising Canadian fashion 'consciousness' and be nothing short of thrilling for all our creative and talented designers."

On the Eco side, Green Living Enterprises has teamed up with the FDCC to ensure the entire production is environmentally conscious. "We are proud to partner with the FDCC on the 'greening' of L'Oreal Fashion Week. The environment is the #1 priority of Canadians and the FDCC is committed to reducing their footprint and becoming leaders in sustainability," said Green Living Enterprises CEO Laurie Simmonds.

The Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC) was founded in 1999 with the specific mandate to brand fashion in Canada. A non-governmental, not for profit national association, the FDCC has successfully built a fashion week that commands international respect and encourages continued economic trade and profile of our industry.
