Fatal incident on Suncor site


FORT MCMURRAY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Aug. 1, 2011) - Suncor Energy regretfully reports that a FT Services employee passed away today as a result of an incident that occurred yesterday evening at a work area on Suncor's Firebag in situ site.

Suncor Emergency Services personnel secured the scene and notified all authorities. Suncor is working with the appropriate authorities and FT Services to complete a full investigation into the cause of the incident.

Due to the seriousness of this incident, Suncor immediately shut down non-critical maintenance activities at the affected Firebag well pad.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
