FatCloud Launches to Enable a New Generation of Mobile, Cloud and Web Applications

Los Angeles-Based Enterprise Technology Company Revolutionizes .NET Applications, Accelerating Time to Market While Making Development More Economical, Scalable and Reliable

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 23, 2012) - FatCloud launches today, introducing a new IT development and management platform that delivers .NET applications in less time and at lower cost. The company behind the eponymous cloud-enabled application platform, backed by invention company Elevator Labs, also makes its public debut after nearly five years of team- and product-building.

Built to leverage .NET and the Microsoft ecosystem, FatCloud eradicates conventional IT development barriers and accelerates application time-to-market by providing a platform for scale-out processing, data management, and availability/redundancy. FatCloud takes care of an application's back-end plumbing, so companies of all sizes can empower their IT and focus on accelerating their business strategy, product innovation and growth.

FatCloud uses Microsoft's standard Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) stack, so developers already know many of the key concepts central to FatCloud, allowing .NET staff to be up and running in hours, not weeks. This preserves existing IT investments and reduces development time and costs, allowing any company to seamlessly leverage and integrate FatCloud's enterprise-grade power.

FatCloud extends .NET functionality by allowing a cluster or grid of servers to work together to scale and optimize application performance and data reads/writes. FatCloud handles the complex tasks of distributing and processing data across multiple server and storage resources; network communication and server synchronization; and fault tolerance, fault recovery and data redundancy. It runs on in-house data centers or on top of private, public or hybrid cloud services.

"There is no other scale-out development platform for .NET in existence today that makes application development and deployment as seamless, reliable and fast as FatCloud," said Ian Miller, CEO of FatCloud. "Bringing this type of significant innovation and IT empowerment to the .NET ecosystem is something we've tirelessly strived toward for nearly five years. Now, companies of every shape and size can achieve their business goals through a new generation of mobile, cloud and web applications."

FatCloud is the first enterprise company backed by Elevator Labs, an invention company and startup incubator based in Los Angeles. In fact, FatCloud was first developed, tested and proven on technology projects driven by Elevator Labs -- created from the genuine need for a stronger, more robust .NET development tool -- and has already been successfully deployed in enterprise-class settings.

Cricket Wireless's Muve Music streaming service was developed on FatCloud. Muve Music gives Cricket customers the ability to search, listen to and download music as a free unlimited service included with a Cricket subscription. At Muve Music's outset, it was unknown how quickly the subscriber base would grow, so scalability and budget were paramount in choosing a platform. Initially, Muve Music was configured on 24 servers; now, it has scaled to 127 servers as it supports more than 600,000 subscribers, making Muve Music the world's second largest music subscription service.

"FatCloud allowed us to handle the growth of Muve Music without blinking," said John Bolton, Head of Product, Muve Music at Cricket Wireless. "It has proven to be a reliable and scalable infrastructure and has effortlessly handled everything we have thrown at it. FatCloud kept on handling the increased load, and in many ways, prevented us from being penalized for our own success."

Leading FatCloud's public launch are CEO Ian Miller and CTO Justin Weiler. Miller brings more than 30 years experience in scale-out technologies, enterprise IT sales, marketing and management from IBM, Platform Computing, Cray Inc., PolyServe and Hewlett-Packard. Weiler has been with FatCloud since its inception in 2007, leading the technology to market as principal .NET developer and overseeing the implementation, success and growth of early customers and their business applications.

DeLanee Collins, vice president of product; Jeremy Laynor, vice president of sales; and Doug Moring, director of marketing, round out the FatCloud executive team, all with deep experience building successful companies and delivering customer satisfaction. FatCloud is continuing to build its organization and grow its teams at its Los Angeles headquarters and Bellevue, Wash. satellite office.
