Father of Toyota Production System Delivers Insights in New English Translation of "Taiichi Ohno's Workplace Management"

MUKILTEO, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 3, 2007 -- Gemba Press releases a new English translation of "Taiichi Ohno's Workplace Management." The book is available now from Gemba Press at www.gembapress.com.

This classic work by the founding father of the Toyota Production System returns to print in a new English translation. Ohno delivers timeless lessons on how to effectively manage the 'gemba,' the actual place where work is performed.

He relates stories from his nearly 40 years of struggle to establish the Toyota Production System as both a mindset and supporting behaviors of constant improvement.

In the book's 38 chapters, Ohno covers a broad range of topics and lays out the fundamental philosophy of kaizen (continuous improvement) that has made Toyota the most successful automobile manufacturer today.

"This book brings to us Taiichi Ohno's philosophy of workplace management -- the thinking behind the Toyota Production System. I personally get a thrill down my spine to read these thoughts in Ohno's own words. My favorite part is his discussion of the misconceptions hidden within common sense and how management needs a revolution of awareness." -- Dr. Jeffrey Liker, Director, Japan Technology Management Program, University of Michigan and Author, "The Toyota Way"
