FCC Drive Away Hunger attracts record number of platinum and national partners

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - Sept. 15, 2014) - Farm Credit Canada's (FCC) Drive Away Hunger campaign has attracted a record number of platinum and national partners to help reach this year's goal of collecting three million pounds of food for Canada's food banks.

"Our platinum and national partners play an important role in FCC Drive Away Hunger and we want to recognize their significant contribution in supporting Canadian food banks," said Michael Hoffort, FCC president and CEO. "We are grateful for their hard work and dedication in helping alleviate hunger and making Canada a better place for everyone."

Hunger is an issue that affects many families in rural Canada. Nearly 850,000 people across Canada rely on food banks every month, and many of them are children. FCC Drive Away Hunger is about making a difference in communities by working together to reduce hunger.

FCC, along with its partners, schools, organizations, volunteers and agriculture producers across Canada have raised more than 17 million pounds of food in the past 10 years.

This year, FCC Drive Away Hunger tours will take place the week of October 13 in Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan. FCC is also collecting food and cash donations in field offices across Canada until October 17.
