FCD to Release New Governance Practices Benchmarking Report at Second Annual Governance Outlook Event on September 9

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - August 6, 2008) - The Forum for Corporate Directors (FCD), a leading Southern California resource for achieving corporate board excellence and good governance, announced today it will release a new research publication -- "Benchmarking Corporate Governance Practices in Orange County, 2008" -- at the organization's second annual Governance Outlook event, to be held at The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, Calif., on September 9, 2008.

The new publication provides public and private company boards of directors and executive management with an in-depth analysis of 2008 proxy statement data. This valuable new governance resource shows the current governance practices at nearly 60 public companies based in Orange County.

"The heightened scrutiny faced by directors and corporate executives has created great interest in how company boards are handling new governance demands and what constitutes best board practices," explained John Rehfeld, FCD chairman. "The landscape is changing so rapidly that directors want to know how their boards compare to their local peers relative to various dimensions of corporate governance. They want to discover any differences between key board practices at small-, medium- and large-sized companies, and they want to see how Orange County companies compare with other companies across the country."

This new benchmarking study from FCD provides new perspectives about issues such as board size and structure; director and CEO compensation; board meeting frequency; director and CEO demographics; diversity in the boardroom; ownership structures; takeover defenses, and more, Rehfeld noted.

The 28-page report will be formally released at the September 9th Governance Outlook event. The program will feature a high level panel discussion of governance issues moderated by Richard Koppes, of counsel at Jones Day in San Francisco and former deputy executive officer and general counsel of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The panel will include experts on governance practice from both CalPERS and CalSTRS, the California State Teachers Retirement System, including Eric Baggesen, CalPERS senior investment officer, and Christopher Ailman, chief investment officer for CalSTRS.

The FCD report on "Benchmarking Corporate Governance Practices in Orange County, 2008," will be provided free of charge to Governance Outlook attendees and to corporate and individual members of the Forum for Corporate Directors as an additional membership benefit. It will be available for purchase by non-members at a price of $295.

The Governance Outlook event will be held from 4:30-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at The Bowers Museum (2002 North Main Street) in Santa Ana.
