FCD's Second Annual Governance Outlook Event Set for Sept. 9; Features High Level Panel on Corporate Governance Trends in 2008-09

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - July 15, 2008) - The Forum for Corporate Directors (FCD), a leading Southern California resource for promoting excellence in corporate governance and boardroom leadership, announced today it will hold its second annual Governance Outlook event on Sept. 9, 2008, at The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana, Calif.

This major event presents FCD members and guests with an in-depth consideration of the latest issues in corporate governance and a forward-looking view of what public company boards can expect to encounter in the spring proxy season for 2009. In addition, this year's Outlook will feature a new FCD publication on Benchmarking Governance Practices in Orange County-2008, which provides an extensive professional analysis of proxy data from the 2008 filing season, from about 60 public companies in Orange County.

The presentation highlight this year will be a panel discussion of governance issues moderated by Richard Koppes, of counsel at Jones Day in San Francisco and former deputy executive officer and general counsel of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The expert panel includes Eric Baggesen, CalPERS senior investment officer, and Christopher Ailman, chief investment officer of CalSTRS, the California State Teachers Retirement System.

"Given the high level of interest in today's complex governance topics -- especially those involving executive compensation practices, shareholders' rights and merger and acquisition issues -- we expect this year's Governance Outlook to be of great interest to boards of directors and executive management from companies throughout Southern California," said John Rehfeld, FCD chairman. "Building on the success of last year's inaugural Outlook event, we've assembled a powerful team of thought leaders who will give attendees the benefit of their many years of deep involvement in corporate governance. This is one event people won't want to miss.

"In addition, we'll have a brand new research study to provide to our members and guests that will be an invaluable resource for directors of both public and private companies who want to know how their governance practices compare with some of the largest and most admired companies in Orange County," Rehfeld added.

The Governance Outlook will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at The Bowers Museum (2002 North Main Street) in Santa Ana. The event is free to FCD members and costs $75 per person for non-members.
