FCIC Chairman Angelides to Brief TOWN HALL LA on the Financial Meltdown

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - September 30, 2010) -  The Honorable Phil Angelides, Chairman of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, will discuss "Examining Our Financial Past to Secure Our Economic Future," with TOWN HALL Los Angeles on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. As former California State Treasurer, Angelides is in a unique position to inform Angelenos about the impact of the financial crisis.

"Real reform depends on the will to make it happen -- of regulators, of the public officials who appoint them, and of the financial leaders who must live by them," said Angelides. "I think one of the things that should concern every American is some 24 months after the Federal government weighed in with trillions of dollars, nothing has really changed. Very little has changed and so I hope in the course of doing our work, that we will illuminate sets of issues that need to be dealt with and dealt with now."

This marks Angelides' second appearance at TOWN HALL. Last time he spoke on "Energy Investment to Sustain California's Economy," when he was treasurer. As state treasurer, Angelides was a trustee for California's major pension funds, managed the $57 billion investment fund, and financed over 100,000 units of affordable housing and $150 billion in schools, transportation, parks and public projects. Angelides is currently also president of Riverview Capital Investments, a firm geared toward sustainable urban development and clean energy. In 2006, he was the Democratic Nominee for Governor.
