FDAAdvisoryCommittee.com to Webcast Hearing on New Diet Pill Qnexa

Meeting to Discuss Potential Blockbuster Weight Loss Drug Will Be Streamed Live and Archived for Six Months

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - July 13, 2010) -  FDAAdvisoryCommittee.com (FDAAC.com), a provider of live video webcasts of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Advisory Committee meetings, today announced that it will webcast the Endocrinologic and Metabolic Drugs Advisory Committee's discussion on whether to recommend FDA approval of diet pill Qnexa®. The meeting is scheduled for July 15, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. ET to 5:00 p.m. ET.

During this hearing, experts will review Vivus Inc.'s new drug application for Qnexa (phentermine/topiramate) and weigh its significant weight loss results and associated benefits against adverse side effects shown in clinical trials. Qnexa combines a low dose of stimulant phentermine with epilepsy drug topiramate, and is recommended as part of an overall weight loss plan that includes diet and exercise. Phase 3 studies showed obese patients to have an average weight loss of 14.7% over 56 weeks. Significant improvement was also seen in related co-morbid conditions of blood pressure, lipid levels, and type 2 diabetes. The most common adverse side effects were dry mouth, tingling, headache, upper respiratory tract infection, and constipation.

Audience members, including biotech equity analysts, pharmaceutical employees, and journalists will be able to watch from anywhere in the world as the Committee votes on recommending Qnexa's availability to the FDA. FDAAC.com will webcast the meeting live and on location from the Hilton Washington DC, North/Gaithersburg Hotel.
