Federal By-elections in Ottawa West-Nepean, Peterborough and Sudbury Have Been Cancelled

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 4, 2015) -

• The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Marc Mayrand, confirmed today that the writs of by-election in Ottawa West-Nepean (Ontario), Peterborough (Ontario) and Sudbury (Ontario) are deemed to have been withdrawn in accordance with subsection 31(3) of the Parliament of Canada Act.

• A notice announcing the withdrawal of the writs and the cancellation of the federal by-elections will be published in the Canada Gazette under section 551 of the Canada Elections Act.

Elections Canada is an independent body set up by Parliament.
