Federal Election: Debate on First Nation Issues

WENDAKE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - April 14, 2011) - The Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador (AFNQL) is planning a debate within the present Federal election campaign. "The next government of Canada cannot escape the major issues brought forward by First Nations. We must know where the political parties stand as of now. We have questions, we want answers ", state the Chief of the AFNQL, Ghislain Picard.

The Chiefs of the five main political parties have received a formal invitation to participate in this debate that will be held on Wednesday, April 27, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Olympic Tower, in Montreal.

The public is also invited to participate by submitting questions to the candidates by email at or on the Facebook page "Premières Nations Québec-Labrador First Nations".

Resignation of André Forbes demanded

The Chief of the AFNQL takes this opportunity to state that André Forbes has to withdraw from the electoral process. "Out of respect for our peoples and the respect for democracy, I ask André Forbes to immediately withdraw his candidature", stated AFNQL Chief Ghislain Picard.
