Federal Parties Renew Focus on Infrastructure Investment

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - October 08, 2015) - With the federal election just 11 days away, the four major political parties have renewed the focus on infrastructure through video submissions highlighting their investment strategies.

This effort was led by Andy Manahan, executive director of the Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario (RCCAO) as part of the Construction & Design Alliance of Ontario's broader effort to promote policy discussion on infrastructure investment. "These videos illustrate to us that all federal parties are committed to increasing infrastructure investment, even if the approaches vary," Manahan says.

Barry Steinberg, chief executive officer, Consulting Engineers of Ontario, currently serves as the volunteer chairman of the Construction & Design Alliance of Ontario. "Our coalition was formed to help advocate with a strong and unified voice to government decision-makers. Considering our massive infrastructure deficit, I am pleased to see that there is an emerging multi-partisan recognition of the importance of investment in Ontario's infrastructure," Steinberg says.

Sandro Perruzza, chief executive officer, Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, is particularly pleased that infrastructure is now part of broader economic policy discussions. "Political leaders clearly recognize that infrastructure investments are a tremendous catalyst to promote our long-term economic prosperity," Perruzza says.

The videos are posted on YouTube and on RCCAO's website. In the coming days, they will be shared through CDAO's broad industry network. Please click on the hyperlinks below to view the videos.
