This final version of the specifications enable all FIDO Alliance members to broadly commercialize FIDO authentication, and non-members to adopt FIDO compliant implementations developed by a FIDO Alliance member.
Yubico serves as a board member and is co-author and key driver of the FIDO U2F (Universal 2nd Factor) protocol. Earlier this quarter, Yubico introduced the FIDO U2F Security Key, a new and easy to use two-factor authentication device, which supports FIDO U2F functionality added to Google Accounts and the Chrome browser. This was the first public and highly successful deployment of FIDO U2F, preparing the market for broad adoption of strong two-factor authentication in the coming year.
With today's launch of the final FIDO 1.0 Specifications, online service providers, enterprises and consumers can all experience the high security, broad industry support, and ease of use from these new open standards.
