Field Law Celebrates Award Winning Counsel

Distinguished Edmonton lawyer recognized for TEC Edmonton & VenturePrize efforts

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - May 8, 2014) - Field Law is pleased to congratulate former Firm Managing Partner and now Counsel, Robert Teskey, QC, on his recently achieved award recognizing his support of both TEC Edmonton, and the TEC VenturePrize program. As a thought leader in the Edmonton business community, Bob has piloted a number of strategic partnership opportunities for TEC, resulting in a stronger city innovation system.

TEC Edmonton was established by the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and the University of Alberta as an unincorporated joint venture in 2006. A business accelerator, TEC Edmonton offers expertise, resources, and connections that help early-stage businesses navigate the commercialization process in the technology industry. Bob has played a key role in envisioning and designing TEC Edmonton's business structure and in creating strong commitment among joint venture partners. Bob's work with TEC Edmonton has enabled the City of Edmonton and the University of Alberta to work together in unique ways and has built strong links between university and community.

As the Managing Partner at Field Law for 25 years, Bob participated in and provided strategic advice with respect to various pieces of major business matters undertaken by the firm. He now acts as counsel to significant business and institutional clients, developing key business and negotiation strategies to deal with unique challenges. Bob regularly acts as an arbitrator in commercial matters and has served as a legal advisor to the University of Alberta.

Bob received his law degree from the University of Alberta in 1970 and was appointed to the Queen's Counsel in 1990. He now has a general corporate commercial solicitor's practice and continues to serve on the Board of Directors for TEC Edmonton.
