Fielkow to Qualify for New Orleans City Council

NEW ORLEANS, LA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 3, 2006 -- Arnie Fielkow, the former Saints Executive Vice President, will qualify today as a candidate for New Orleans Council-at-Large in the upcoming election.

Fielkow, an outspoken advocate for New Orleans before, and especially in the months since Katrina, is expected to make a formal announcement at a campaign event next Tuesday.

"I am excited about the opportunity to help lead the rebuilding of this great city I love. From my travels, I know the hurricane devastated the city's image as well as its residents and infrastructure. I am committed to rehabilitating one and restoring the other... My wife practices pediatric medicine here; our three sons are proud students within the New Orleans public school system. My friends, my life is here. We are honored to call New Orleans our home and I eagerly assume the vital task of rebuilding our community.

"I believe, as do so many others, that our city desperately needs new leadership -- the right kind of leadership. My history proves I will be a professional and business-like Council Member at Large. My energy, my enthusiasm and my optimism have not diminished since Katrina -- they've grown. Our city is unique. Our city is diverse. Our city's culture reaches the world. I pledge to restore that uniqueness, that diversity, that culture. I further pledge to make our city safer and stronger, and better focused on the challenges that will define us. As I have in the past, I will create unity and build consensus and work to eliminate the discord and strife we have seen for too long. It is time for us to come together.

"My background and experience enable me to work on a national and international level, enhancing our tourism industry, and equally important, recruiting diversified new industries to our community. We need better jobs and new investors, and the establishment of more effective and business-like priorities for city government.

"I will stand up for the interests of all New Orleans citizens and to demonstrate the courage to do what is right for a better New Orleans. I ask all New Orleanians to roll up their sleeves and join me in making the 'new' New Orleans a shining example of success, prosperity and harmony."
