Fifty-Six Infrastructure Projects in Alberta Get Joint Government Funding

Projects approved under New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - July 31, 2015) - The governments of Canada and Alberta are providing funding for 56 infrastructure projects in communities across the province under the New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund.

Funding for these projects will help Alberta communities improve drinking water and wastewater systems, major roads, disaster mitigation, public transit, and solid waste management. Once complete, the work will significantly improve key municipal services for residents and help boost regional development.

The Small Communities Fund is part of the $10-billion Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component of the New Building Canada Fund. It is providing $1 billion to municipalities with fewer than 100,000 residents for priority public infrastructure projects that deliver on local needs. These investments support job creation and economic growth, thus sustaining a high quality of life in small communities across Alberta for years to come.
