Financial Assistance From Government of Canada Allows Fourrures Grenier to Modernize


BARRAUTE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Jan. 20, 2012) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that Fourrures Grenier was granted financial assistance for the acquisition of equipment that will help the firm raise productivity.

"By supporting this project of Fourrures Grenier, an Abitibi-based company, the Government of Canada is confirming its determination to help Quebec's small and medium-sized enterprises remain competitive, reach high standards of productivity and create employment in their regions," said Minister Lebel.

Fourrures Grenier manufactures fur clothing and boots from the raw pelts it purchases. The firm, located in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue community of Barraute, has initiated a process to raise production by expanding its existing premises and acquiring specialized equipment in order to better meet customer demand.

This $122,100 in repayable funding was granted through Canada Economic Development's Community Diversification program.
