Finca Limoncillo-Single Estate Nicaraguan Coffee Now Brewing at All Good Earth Coffeehouses

Exclusive and Available for a Limited Time

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Nov. 18, 2013) - Good Earth Coffeehouse and Bakery is pleased to announce that it will be serving a new Single Estate Coffee, Finca Limoncillo, from Nicaragua. This premium direct trade coffee is available for a limited time in all Good Earth coffeehouses and is served brewed by the cup or French press. Whole beans are also available, by the bag, to enjoy at home or the office.

"Finca Limoncillo is an excellent example of the power of Direct Trade. I've been to the farm and spent time with the Mierisch family. They produce outstanding coffee while caring for their community and the environment. We've built a relationship with them that means our customers can enjoy this unique and exclusive coffee, knowing that they are supporting sustainable practices on the farm," says Gerry Doherty, President and Chief Operating Officer.

This Single Estate Nicaraguan is grown in the Matagalpa region on a farm 1200 meters above sea level. Farmer Eleane Mierisch and her family have been producing coffee for several generations. Eleane's great grandfather came to Nicaragua from Germany in the 1800's to design the country's railroad. He was paid in land and thus began the family's farming heritage.

Eleane's mother was the soul of the family coffee company for many years. She believed it was her responsibility to better the lives of those around her, so she undertook building churches, schools, daycares, health clinics and housing on the farms. Eleane has continued her mother's legacy of improving the well-being of workers' lives while producing exceptional coffee.

Finca Limoncillo is a product of Eleane's commitment. It has aromas of raisin and toffee-like sweetness. This light roast coffee has a Mandarin orange acidity*, and a smooth clean finish**. Finca Limoncillo is a fully washed and sun-dried coffee bean. It is 100% JavaNica, a varietal from the original Typica coffee plant. The Typica plant and it roots can be traced back to the origins of coffee in Eastern Africa.

*Acidity used as a coffee term, refers to bright, tangy, fruity, or wine-like flavor characteristics found in many high grown coffees.

**Clean Finish refers to the coffee being flavorful, but without any pungent or unusual flavors.
